Drink Driving: Blood Alcohol Limits and Consequences in Germany

Germany has clear legal regulations regarding alcohol in road traffic. For drivers over 21 years of age, a blood alcohol limit of 0.5 ‰ applies. For drivers under 21 and during the probationary period, a zero tolerance limit applies. From 1.6 ‰, absolute incapacity to drive is assumed.

The consequences for drink driving are significant depending on the blood alcohol content: from fines and points in Flensburg to driving licence withdrawal and prison sentences. In addition, comprehensive insurance cover is often forfeited in the event of an alcohol-related accident.

ENBA is committed to greater road safety on German roads. Drive responsibly and use our platform for all your vehicle maintenance needs.
